If you are a current Barnard College employee, please use the internal career site to apply for this position.Job:Associate Director of Alumnae EngagementJob Summary:Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Alumnae Relations, and the Director of Alumnae Relations, this full-time position is responsible for the recruitment, training, and engagement for three distinct committees of the Alumnae Association of Barnard College (AABC): Project Continuum, Alma Maters, Professional Leadership and Development, as well as select milestone Reunion Committees. The Associate Director will be the primary liaison from the office to each of these committees and is responsible for overall volunteer management. The Associate Director will organize and assist with planning engagement opportunities for each of these groups in coordination with the Chair for each.Job Description:Duties and Responsibilities:
  • As staff liaison to Alma Maters (mothers) and Project Continuum (graduated 30+ years ago), work with volunteers to create, develop, and implement programs to strengthen connections to the College and support institutional goals through life-stage programming.
  • As staff liaison to the Professional and Leadership Development Committee, work with volunteers to conceptualize, plan, and implement programs, events, and communications.
  • Provide support to the Director of Alumnae Relations on working with the AABC Awards Committee. Research each nominee and create a detailed packet of each of the nominees' accomplishments, volunteer history, and any additional relevant information to send to the Awards Committee for review; attend and take minutes at the annual meeting.
  • Develop and implement a strategy for the new Alumnae Ambassador Program under the direction of the Director of Alumnae Relations.
  • Develop and implement a refreshed strategy for non-milestone year class engagement under the direction of the Director of Alumnae Relations.
  • Assist with logistical and programmatic aspects of the Memorial Service and other assigned events that take place annually at Reunion, including but not limited to invitations, printed programs, securing clergy and family and friends to speak, and arrangements with events staff.
  • Coordinate all logistical and programmatic aspects of alumnae events for volunteer groups including but not limited to coordination of catering, audiovisual, facilities, CARES program management, contracts, invitations (print and electronic), guest lists, remarks, briefings, staffing and follow-up, as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for assigned committees. Guide Committee Chairs in planning meetings according to the annual cycle of each committee. Utilize electronic communications to help facilitate communications and to share resources. Steward volunteers to remain involved and active. Follow up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Meet regularly with Development colleagues to discuss strategies for cultivating relationships and engaging alumnae and remain in close contact keeping them abreast of alumnae involvement.
  • Adhere to systems designed to track event attendance patterns and to evaluate engagement levels following each event.
  • Perform other duties and work on other related projects as assigned by senior leadership of the Alumnae Relations team. This includes assisting with Reunion and other alumnae programs as needed.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work both in an office and at off-site events while managing competing priorities
  • Ability to deal with a wide array of constituencies with diplomacy and tact
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communications skills, in writing, by phone and in person
  • Excellent word processing, spreadsheet, and computer skills required
  • Ability to adhere strictly to rules regarding confidential information
  • Strong attention to detail, including ability to ensure data accuracy.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of traditional office hours.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in alumnae relations, public relations, development, volunteer program organization or closely related activities
  • Must meet the department's core values of collaboration, aspiration, transparency, respect, accountability, and trust.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Knowledge of volunteer management best practices
Additional Information:
  • This job is primarily performed remotely, but will require a presence in the office (in addition to duties previously specified as on-site) for events, team and full staff meetings, and other times as directed by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform customary office tasks such as sitting, walking, standing, computing, and answering telephone for moderate to prolonged periods of time combined with light to moderate reaching, bending and lifting.
Salary Range: $72,000 - $76,500 annuallyThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
