Curious. Goal-Oriented. Accountable. Grateful. These words describe a new Emporia State University Foundation teammate who will develop strong relationships with existing and prospective donors.
The Foundation's Associate Director of Development develops strong relationships with individual donors, alumni, and friends of the University for the purpose of securing major gifts. As a frontline fundraiser this position connects ESU alumni and supporters back to the University in a meaningful way. Development officers build strategic plans to move donors and prospective donors through a donor cycle.
This role is critical to helping the university advance its mission. Candidates should be self-motivated and positive professionals with an optimistic attitude, eager to embody the ESU spirit and engage alumni and friends at a personal level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Create and execute strategic fundraising plans to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors.
* Actively manage a portfolio of approximately 80 prospects and donors with annual goals for personal visits, major gift proposals delivered/closed, number of planned gifts closed, and targeted dollar goals.
* Serve as a key liaison between university leadership, faculty, and University Advancement Staff. Intentionally build and invest in developing strong relationships with university leadership and faculty to promote a culture of philanthropy.
* Travel to meet with prospective donors throughout the state of Kansas and out of state, as necessary. Strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits in addition to regular virtual, phone, and email strategies to close asks.
* Update and maintain donor and prospect information in the Raiser's Edge NXT database system. Complete action reports for all contacts made.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* All candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and have at least three years of work history.
* Preferred candidates will have experience and demonstrable success in a sales or hospitality role.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, experience with digital communication tools, and comfort using customer relationship management technologies are also required.

COMPENSATION:
* Salary: $72,000 - $114,000 annually.
* Qualifications and previous experience will be considered for placement of base rank and salary.
