Associate Director of Human Resources for Public SafetySalary: $75,100 - $88,800Description: This role provides comprehensive and consistent leadership of the HR function to support the overall mission of the Division of Public Safety (DPS), which includes the following departments: Administration, Emergency Management, Events, Police Department, Threat Assessment, and Flight Operations. This position provides professional and technical HR guidance and service to the continuing, temporary, and student staff in DPS in all relevant HR competencies. Responsibilities include serving as lead for employee relations, position management, recruitment, leave, payroll management, staff development, wellness and engagement, and performance management functions for continuing employees. This position serves as a liaison between the Division of Public Safety and Campus Human Resources and reports to the Executive Director of Public Safety, with a strong focus on human resources within law enforcement. This position supervises an HR Generalist.Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or related field. A combination of education and professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 5 years of increasingly complex HR experience, including Employee Relations.Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy. Respect for highly confidential and critical information encountered in HR functions. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to remain calm and conscientious while handling crises. Ability to effectively manage employee issues and disagreements. Strong communication skills that include seeking to understand others and communicating clear expectations. Demonstrated application of integrity and ethics as part of decision-making. Ability to consider risk as part of decision-making. Curiosity and willingness to learn. Willingness to support the team and mission by lending a hand or completing work not part of normal duties. Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.What We Would Like You to Have: 1 year of experience with leave administration or payroll for overtime-eligible employees. Familiarity with CU rules/regulations and HR IT systems. Familiarity with the State of Colorado Classified System. PHR or SHRM-CP certificate.
