Associate Director of Individual Giving Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, Inc. (AILEY) is seeking an experienced individual to serve as our Associate Director of Individual Giving reporting to the Director of Major Gifts & Individual GivingPosition Summary:The Associate Director of Individual Giving is a dynamic and strategic leader with a proven track record of identifying, securing, and stewarding individual donors. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts & Individual Giving, the Associate Director will work closely with colleagues organization-wide to develop the planning and implementation of the Individual Giving program, which supports the efforts of the companies, Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs, and The Ailey School.Successful candidates will have a minimum of 4+ years of fundraising experience, including 2+ years as a frontline fundraiser. Candidates must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills and an appreciation for dance.Responsibilities:
- Acquire and steward individual donors including members of the Ailey Partners, Parents Annual Fund, and Ailey Legacy Circle
- As a front-line fundraiser, work closely with Director of Major Gifts & Individual Giving to cultivate and steward donors and prospects to grow the number of membership households and increase annual giving
- Create long-range development plans for each Partner member
- Cultivate and steward the Parents Annual Fund Donors
- Liaise between the Parents and The Ailey School leadership
- Oversee stewardship of student scholarship donors utilizing Individual Giving Assistant
- Manage and coordinate planned giving society, Ailey Legacy Circle
- Strategize and plan campaigns in concert with vendor partner FreeWill
- Cultivate and solicit new Legacy Circle members while stewarding existing donors
- Develop materials for Partners, Parents, and Legacy Circle members
- Work closely with the Director of Major Gifts & Individual Giving to assist in developing a pipeline of prospects for the Artistic Director's Circle and major giving opportunities
- Attend most cultivation events, including most performances at New York City Center and other venues
- Contribute to individual giving team's ongoing prospect research needs
- Collaborate with the Director of Development Operations to ensure the highest standards and best practices in donor record management.
- Supervise interns, seasonal assistants, and student workers
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of related experience working in a multi-faceted fundraising office with a successful track record of increasing responsibility and successful history of individual giving
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and ethics
- Understanding of planned giving vehicles, methods, and solicitation techniques
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Strong writing skills with proficient experience drafting and editing appeals
- Ability to lead, work independently, and collaborate as a member of a team
- Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred
- Knowledge of prospect research tools and best practices for non-profit organizations
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
- Experience working with performing arts and cultural organizations and a knowledge of New York City's philanthropic circles is preferred
- Intimate knowledge of and appreciation for dance/performing arts preferred
- Bachelor's degree required/Master's degree preferred
