Job Description for Associate Director of Information Security

The Associate Director of Information Security (ADIS) is responsible for:

  • Leadership, policies, compliance, education, technical consultation, risk management and incident response of the information security program at NY CREATES' Albany Nanotech Complex and the Rochester Test, Assembly and Packaging (TAP) site.
  • The strategic leadership and communication of the NY CREATES' information security program and the information security governance process.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of policies that ensure compliance with federal, New York State, Research Foundation and NYCREATES information security regulations/policies.
  • Work with users on outreach, education, and training to ensure security issues and best practices are communicated and awareness and a sense of common purpose around security is maintained.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance in assessing and evaluating information security risks, monitor compliance with security standards and appropriate policies and keep abreast of security incidents.
  • Provide technical security and systems consultation on Servers, End-point computers, Networks, Storage, and applications.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements for Associate Director of Information Security

  • An associate degree and ability to obtain a professional security certification (e.g. CISSP, CISA, CISM) within 1 year of being hired.
  • At least 15 years of Information Technology Security Experience (including technical) with at least 5 years of experience as a Leader in technical (IT) security. The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of management and the user community. And have the ability to work with other leaders set the best balance between security strategies and other priorities throughout the IT environment.
  • Experience executing security practices as a Security Leader or as a Seasoned Technical Leader in System/Security Administration with security knowledge and experience on networks, servers, computers, and storage environments in secured environments.
  • Knowledge of and technical experience in compliancy and regulatory environment of information security, including Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and particularly in the research & development and/or the semiconductor industries is highly desirable.
  • Significant experience in computing and information security, network security issues, security incident response and disaster recovery in a higher education, research and/or the semiconductor industry environment is highly desirable.
  • The ability to work in a team/collaborative environment with a broad range of constituencies is essential.
  • The position requires an intelligent, articulate, consensus building, and persuasive leader who can work effectively with senior administration, program leaders, the user community and communicate information security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated success in working with outside consultants and/or auditors in a lead capacity to coordinate representation of institutional technology systems and practices is highly desired.

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual background checks.

Salary Range:

5-10 years proficient experience $135,000-$143,000

10-15 years proficient experience and minimum of a bachelor's degree $144,000-$152,000

15+ years proficient experience and minimum of a bachelor's degree $153,000-$161,000

*Posted salary rates are determined upon education and experience.
