Location: New York,NY, USA
Undue Medical Debt, a philanthropic organization whose purpose is to strengthen communities by erasing financially burdensome medical debt, seeks a seasoned healthcare professional to serve as Associate Director of Provider Relations. This position is designed to support Undue's mission by engaging with healthcare providers nationwide—hospitals, physician groups, and others—with the goal of developing new partnerships that benefit both providers and people burdened with medical debt by abolishing the debt with philanthropic funds dedicated to this cause. The ideal candidate will be familiar with healthcare finance operations either from having worked for a hospital or other provider practice, or from having offered services to that audience.
Headquartered in Long Island City, New York, Undue supports remote work arrangements for staff outside the NYC metropolitan area.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Vice President of Provider Relations, the Associate Director of Provider Relations (AD) will engage with healthcare providers across the country to explain the Undue program, why medical debt is a social determinant of health, and persuade them to partner with us. The AD does this by creating and responding to opportunities to explain Undue's value proposition. The AD also acquires debt files, explains pricing and qualification data, and supports follow-up work. The AD will be supported in these efforts by members of the Provider Relations team who have already identified prospective partners.
The AD will develop and maintain knowledge of provider organizations nationwide, as well as national and industry trends that affect vulnerable communities and the healthcare organizations whose mission is to provide healthcare for them. Undue's goal is both to acquire and relieve debt, and to influence provider partners to work with Undue on this issue.
We seek an AD who will:
Engage healthcare providers effectively
Maintain knowledge of the landscape for healthcare providers
Track provider partner opportunities and progress
Participate actively in organization-wide discussion of the evolution of the Undue model and how to achieve the mission of ending unaffordable medical debt
Inspire the trust and confidence of colleagues at Undue and its partners
Demonstrate an adaptive work style that is decisive, creative, responsive, and solution-oriented
