Campus Wellness & Recreation actively cultivates quality recreational and educational experiences aimed at positively shaping University of Tulsa students and fostering wellness within our campus community. As the associate director, you play a pivotal role as a leader within our professional team. You provide proactive leadership to three full-time staff members, oversee the daily operations of the Collins Fitness Center, offer support to Hurricane Health powered by CareATC, oversee the esports program and gaming lounge, and collaborate closely with the Director of Campus Services on departmental administration and strategic planning initiatives.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
* Provide leadership to the wellness & recreation team, which includes the development of annual goals and priorities, facilitating team meetings, and general support of staff and programs.
* Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time staff members overseeing operations, recreational sports, esports, and departmental assistant.
* Oversee the daily operations and scheduling Collins Fitness Center, Esports gaming lounge and team rooms, Mabee racquetball courts.
* Develop and ensure the enforcement of facility usage, safety, and security policies
* Plan, manage and evaluate the annual operating budget. Manage the purchasing, maintenance, and replacement of all fitness and gaming equipment
* Participates in the review of departmental policies and procedures
* Responsible for the development, maintenance, and assessment of a risk management program ensuring all facilities and activities follow appropriate standards of care.
* Director hires and supervises hourly fitness instructors and personal trainers.
* Oversee student employee hiring process and maintain and update student employee job descriptions.
* Oversee the collection and retention of or required immunization records for all enrolled students.
* Represent Campus Wellness & Recreation at weekly Event Resource Group meetings
* Manage the relationship with CareATC, our vendor for Hurricane Health services.
* Oversee the contract and partnership with CareATC, ensuring that their services align with the health and wellness goals of our campus community.
* Regular communication with CareATC representatives to discuss service delivery, updates, and any issues that arise.
* Monitor the quality of services provided by CareATC, gathering feedback from users and addressing any concerns or improvements needed.
* Collaborate with CareATC on planning health-related initiatives and campaigns that benefit the campus community.
* Review monthly CareATC invoices and approve for payment
Required Qualifications
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
* Four years' experience managing sport and/or fitness programs.
* Progressive leadership and administrative experience, preferably at the collegiate/university level, to include the development, implementation, administration, and evaluations of programs and services with a commitment to student development and engagement; experience with budget development/management, and fiscal reporting.
* Knowledge and experience in recreational facility operations and management.
* Demonstrated personnel management experience with development of professional and student staff.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and quality customer service.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
* Membership with the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
* Strong computer and social media skills and proven experience with data collection.
* Assessment and continuous improvement for campus recreation and facilities management.
Equivalent Education/Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Administration, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Higher Education or related degree or ten plus years of work experience in a related field.
* CPR, First Aid, and AED instructor certification (must obtain within first six months)
