JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Associate Director for Zehr InstituteDepartment: School of PATHSupervisor: Director of ProgramsFLSA Classification: Non-exemptSchedule: Regular, PT (10-15hrs/wk)Job Summary:The Associate Director of the Zehr Institute for Restorative Justice works with the staff at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding (CJP) to advance the use of restorative justice across campus and throughout the global community, and to help set priorities for activities sponsored by the Zehr Institute. The Associate Director is a public-facing representative of the Zehr Institute and CJP, and provides leadership for the mission, vision, and strategic plan/goals of the Zehr Institute. Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be considered for qualified candidates.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain a broad awareness of the many applications of restorative justice and an ability to help guide the Zehr Institute in choosing among the many requests for assistance that are received.
- Work collegially with other staff growing non-credit, income generating programming at CJP and at EMU more broadly.
- Work collaboratively with the operational staff and leadership at CJP to set realistic goals for the Zehr Institute and those goals are achieved.
- Represent the Zehr Institute as a front-facing content expert by working with CJP staff to implement a strategic marketing and communications strategy, by providing leadership for the Zehr Institute ZI webinar series, and by attending conferences (NACRJ) and gatherings to represent Zehr Institute in the restorative justice field.
- Work collaboratively with Restorative Justice and Trauma oriented faculty on developing programming and other events that position Zehr Institute as a leader/innovator in the field.
- Organize and implement Zehr Institute's monthly webinars.
- Assist the management team to set priorities and determine what resources exist in the Zehr Institute network to respond to requests that come in.
- Maintain the Zehr Institute webpage and distribute regular newsletters to the community.
- Collaborate with other university offices (DEI, STAR, SPI, etc.) in building capacity and content towards income generation and sustainability for Zehr Institute.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to comprehend complex information in order to create queries, prepares reports, correspondence, coordinate information both manually and on the computer.
- Ability to organize and maintain manual and computerized filing systems
- Attention to detail for accurately preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to have a professional and neat appearance.
- Ability to set goals, prioritize and organize job tasks and workload in order to meet deadlines, ability to complete work in a timely manner and communicate progress routinely with the Director of Human Resources.
- Interpersonal skills for assisting faculty, staff, students, applicants and other visitors, and insurance vendors.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide variety of constituents.
- Ability to use a PC and mainframe, a modem and software such as payroll, Windows, Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook) for preparing and processing payroll, queries, downloading computerized information, surveys, invoices, and other types of correspondence.
Education and Experience:Master's degree in a field of study related to peacebuilding, conflict transformation, or restorative justice, or related field preferred. Experience in sustained relationships within the field of Restorative Justice and a broad understanding of various ways that restorative justice is being used to advance the goals of liberation, justice, and peace are required.Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
