Scheduled Hours37.5Position SummaryThe associate director is part of the Student Financial Services (SFS) leadership team and is responsible for managing compliance, operations and awarding, and providing complex financial aid training within SFS, admissions, and undergraduate, graduate and professional schools.Job DescriptionPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and directs the areas of compliance, operations, and awarding. Each of these areas are key for administering state, federal, and institutional financial aid. The associate director is responsible for overseeing verifications, administration of Pell, summer awarding, outside awards, academic calendar compliance, review of over-awards and aid reconciliations. The associate director is also responsible for identifying routine reporting needs and regularly disseminating the data both internally and with campus partners.
  • Develops and deploys a comprehensive training program for SFS, School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS) and graduate and professional school financial aid offices. The administration of Title IV aid is driven by strict rules developed by the Department of Education and ensuring compliance with these regulations, regular updates to guidance as well as effective training are critical.
  • Works closely with the Director of Student and Family Engagement in SFS who oversees the counseling efforts for new and current undergraduate students as well as service center activities. This collaboration will ensure that the operations are supporting the efforts of the counseling and service center teams. Effective communication between operations and the counseling/service center teams is critical to keep priorities in sync.
  • Participates in strategic planning process for the aid team and takes the lead in goal setting for the functional areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
