Associate Director, Residential Education Job Description:Reporting to the Director of Housing and Residential Education, the Associate Director of Residential Education will support the College's commitment to creating a vibrant and engaging student experience, where students are offered opportunities to be ethical leaders, engaged musicians and performers, and community builders. The Housing and Residential Education team provides a broad range of student affairs and student development functions to create safe, supportive, and inclusive living-learning communities that engage residents in the fostering of their academic success, personal growth, leadership development, and social responsibility.The Associate Director of Residential Education is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position.MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Education or related field. 3-5 years of experience in Higher Education or a related field. Extensive experience in a college or university setting is preferred. Project management, budget management, and assessment experience preferred.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the direction of the Director of Housing and Residential Education, work closely with the Associate Director of Residential and Housing Operations to ensure that all units are integrated, coordinated, and connected in order to fully advance the residential experience.
- Operationalize the long-term Housing and Residential Education strategy and vision that is defined by the Director of Housing and Residential Education.
- Assist the Director on the future direction and development of the Residential Education program to meet the needs of Berklee's diverse resident population.
- Work closely with the Associate Director of Residential and Housing Operations to ensure that Housing and Residential Education units are integrated, coordinated, and connected in order to fully advance the residential student experience.
- Directly supervise three Resident Directors.
- Directly supervise one Assistant Director for Residential Education.
- Provide assistance to the department of Housing and Residential Education in creating and sustaining a culture of evidence-based assessment.
- Lead the implementation of the Sky Factor Survey on Student Satisfaction, as national residential student assessment tool.
- Actively engage with students on campus, meeting regularly with the Student Government Association, assessing the possible development of a Residence Hall Association, and other student groups to receive feedback.
- In partnership with the Associate Dean of Student Life, and the Director of Housing and Residential Education, identify collaborative opportunities that can further assist the integration of Berklee and The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, as it relates to the Residence Life experience.
- Develop and initiate a comprehensive Resident Assistant training program.
- Develop and initiate a residential curriculum model with a collaborative and inclusive approach. Assess, develop and initiate high impact practices as it relates to the Housing and Residential Life experience.
- Partner with campus stakeholders to develop, support, and assess the Living Learning Community program, promoting a collaborative and student-centered approach to community building and academic success.
- Ensure integration of Residential Education efforts with those of other complimentary units including New Student and Family Programs, Campus Life, Diversity and Inclusion, and Community Standards and Conflict Resolution.
- Serve as a Community Standards Hearing Officer.
- Serve as a senior member of the Student On-Call Response Team.
- Compile data and provide routine verbal and written responses to inquiries about departmental operations to students, campus colleagues, other institutions' housing officers and to the public.
- Analyze data, write reports and make presentations on departmental and student development issues.
