Job Description:

Flatiron books is looking for an associate editor to support the expansion of its nonfiction program. The associate editor will oversee projects acquired by senior staff as well as inherited backlist nonfiction, and will have the opportunity to acquire a select number of projects in the practical nonfiction space, including health/wellbeing, personal development, and lifestyle. What you'll do:

  • Edit and project manage a growing list of nonfiction titles
  • Read and offer thoughtful feedback on submissions in a timely manner
  • Oversee production workflows, including collaboration with freelancers
  • Acquire a select number of projects
  • Maintain excellent relationships with authors and agents
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in marketing, publicity, and other departments
What you'll bring:

  • Proven ability to edit high-level nonfiction

Ideal experience:
  • 4+ years of experience in editorial, specifically practical nonfiction
  • Experience line editing and managing projects with complex production requirements, including 4-color books
  • Basic knowledge of the publishing industry, including experience working closely with authors and agents and an understanding of the assets, timelines, and deliverables needed to successfully publish books
This role will have an annual salary of $60,000 - $65,000.
