The Opportunity
This position works out of our St. Paul, Minnesota location in the Structural Heart division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.
As the Engineer I, you'll have the chance to support product development within the transcatheter aortic valve team, helping to ensure development of highest quality new products as well as providing support to cross-functional teams, helping to ensure realization of highest quality product to the customer.
This role performs entry-level activities to provide engineering support to new and existing products. Investigates and resolves production problems involving equipment and systems. Use multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of company's strategic plan. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective and cost-efficient business practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Promotes the process of continuous quality improvement and risk management and coordinates solutions for electrical system issues. Exercises independent judgment in planning and organizing work; monitors performance and reports status. Use multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of company's strategic plan.
What You'll Work On
- Work may involve collaborating with cross-functional teams developing and executing tests, performing root cause analysis and participating in investigations. Also making presentations to internal/external customers, vendors, and senior management,
- Work requires the application of theoretical principles, evaluation, ingenuity and creative/analytical techniques typically acquired in a recognized four-year or more academic course of study.
- Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of equipment and system problems.
- Effectively communicates moderately complex technical issues and solutions to non-technical internal and external customers.
- Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, and/or coordinating engineering work. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements.
- Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering degree.
- 0-2 years related experience
- Ability to deliver quality engineering information that adds value to management's decision-making process.
- Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to travel including internationally.

The base pay for this position is $48,000.00 – $96,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
