Job DescriptionThis is a hybrid role. The first three months are full time in the office.The Associate Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for assisting the engineering team in Fiber Optic network design, engineering, and execution of projects that provide communication infrastructure and services to the company. This includes generating detailed engineering designs and documentation needed for the installation, configuration, and commissioning of communications equipment, interfacing with IP, MPLS and SONET networks, and understanding and compliance with regulatory bodies such as Independent System Operator New England (ISO-NE) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Essential Functions: - Engineering support for emergent projects, fiber expansion, new fiber routes, diversified fiber routes, network reliability and enhancement.
- Attend regular project meetings and provide input for communications design.
- Create high level diagrams in MS VISIO for overall project scope.
- Participate in site walks with other teams to determine scope of telecom work.
- Create fiber routes (OPGW & ADSS) and SONET ring diagrams.
- Solicit quotes and create Bill of Materials (BOM) for telecom equipment required for various projects.
- Create TDM and Ethernet circuits for communication equipment.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Knowledge of Fiber optic networks and communication.
- Familiarity with TDM, MPLS and SONET networks with basic understanding of IP connectivity.
- Knowledge of Microwave communications.
- Knowledge of Optical Multiplexers.
- Very high standards of professional and technical competence.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulatory criteria and industry codes and standards pertaining to the engineering of telecommunication systems.
- Valid driver's license required with acceptable driving record that meets Safe Driver Policies.
- Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications/Network Engineering, or associated disciplines from an accredited engineering school.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience is required.

Compensation and Benefits:Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $79,130.00 to $87,920.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
Working Conditions: - Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver's license is required.
