Our law group is growing and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent our clients in all areas of family law. You'll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. Responsibilities
- Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
- Contribute to the sales efforts for the firm by handling incoming PNC calls
- Take responsibility for collection rate and accounts receivables for your clients
- Keep client files properly organized and up to date
- Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action
- Represent clients in court proceedings as needed
- Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements and orders for a high volume of cases
- Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
Qualifications
- You must be comfortable and excited by the prospect of leveraging technology in the course of practicing law
- A passion for the practice of divorce and family law
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois and live within our coverage area (Kane, Cook, Lake, DuPage, and Will Counties)
- Must have worked on family law issues for at least 5+ years
- Possess a solid working knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRMs, time tracking software, Slack, Zoom, etc.
- Be ready to grow both personally and professionally in your role
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
- Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required
- Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
- Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants
