Position Summary:
The Department of Graduate Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Yeshiva University's Katz School of Science and Health seeks an Associate Chair to work with the Chair to build the Graduate CSE Department. This is a tenured or accelerated tenure-track position with the rank of associate professor/professor level. The newly established Graduate CSE Department includes programs in AI, Data Analytics and Visualization, and Cybersecurity, as well as the Katz School's Internet of Things (IoT) Lab and Security Operation Center (SOC).
The Katz School currently has research partnerships with several industry and academic institutions, including Standard and Poor's, Audi Motors, Einstein College of Medicine, and the Renal Research Institute. The school's current STEM programs are experiencing an exciting period of rapid growth in collaborative research (within and outside of the University), grant activity, industry partnerships, and technological innovation as well as a significant expansion of highly qualified master's students in AI, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Mathematics, who have the option to pursue doctoral degrees in our PhD program in Mathematical Sciences or elsewhere.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Partnering with the Chair to:
* Create a long-term vision for the Department of Graduate CSE.
* Build a rich on-campus experience for the Department of Graduate CSE.
* Develop a doctorate program in Computer Science
* Build collaborations across the University.
* oversee program directors and ensure that each of their programs have strong R&D components, capstones, and internships.
* Increasing grant awards and R&D projects that can lead to patents, industry engagement, and opportunities for faculty and students as well as collaborations across the University.
* Establishing an active portfolio of research and grant awards as well as potential grants.
* Contributing to student research/internships, excellent/experiential teaching strategies, and service.
* Serving as program director for one or more MS programs.
* Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Educational Background:
* Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or its related field from an accredited college or university.
* Strong record of research and external funding. Preference will be given to those candidates with research/grants in the focus areas of the department.
* Demonstrated expertise in academic administration and leadership, including the ability to build a collaborative, productive, and engaged group of computer scientists.
* Industry network that can provide research projects and internships.
Skills & Competencies
* Ability to manage complex projects from start to finish, in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent writing and communication skills.
* Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
