Short DescriptionRequires a motivated individual who believes in Cooper's mission to serve, heal, and educate to improve the lives of Cooper patients and the communities it serves. The candidate must be committed to serving and educating members of Cooper's healthcare and administrative teams to fulfill that mission.
This is an advanced position. The candidate must be able to work independently and collaborate with other professionals and departments under the supervision of the SVP and Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsel. Must be able to lead projects with minimal oversight and supervise paralegals and junior attorneys as directed.
Must be eager to learn and take direction from the SVP and Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsel. The candidate should project a positive attitude and foster a team approach with colleagues.
Must possess excellent legal research and writing skills, along with the desire, disposition, and integrity necessary to work well with fellow members of Cooper's legal department, members of Cooper's healthcare and administrative departments, outside and opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Experience RequiredSix or more years of experience as an attorney. Health law education and/or experience at a law firm, for the government, or another health system preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of the law and related terminology, written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal/human relation skills are required. Research and report preparation skills, as well as legal analysis and argument skills are essential.
Ability to maintain confidentiality is crucial.
A demonstrated ability to systematically:
A demonstrated ability and desire to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
A demonstrated proficiency in modern legal office skills, including the use of Microsoft Office products, the Internet, Westlaw, and email.
Education RequirementsBachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor required.
License/Certification RequirementsActive bar admission in good standing and eligibility for New Jersey licensure. Admission to the New Jersey Bar required within one year of employment.
