ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL

Minimum Requirements:

  • JD from an accredited law school and more than 3 years related experience, with additional education and training in law, if appropriate.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
  • Must have a valid certificate from the Florida Supreme Court.

As part of the more than 3 years of experience, should have experience in labor and employment law, trial practice, including practice before the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings ( DOAH ), the EEOC, exceptional student education (ESE), including knowledge of IDEA and Section 504 law, FERPA, charter school law, contract and tort law, vendor/purchaser law experience, including understanding bidding and procurement processes and procedures, constitutional law including First Amendment issues, and related questions involving school law, and mental health and threat assessment issues as required by Florida law.

Minimum salary for the position is $170,000 annually (250-day employment calendar).

Before that, the District had maintained a “B” grade since 2004, when district grades were first given.
