We're thrilled to partner with an innovative client in Fairfield County, CT, seeking a dynamic Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment to join their team! This is a fantastic opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping labor and employment practices within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. This is a newly created role providing critical legal support in labor and employment law, offering practical advice on fair employment practices, compliance with regulations, and strategies for labor relations. Reporting to the Chief Employment Counsel, the Associate General Counsel partners closely with HR and management on issues ranging from hiring and performance management to leave laws, wage compliance, and employee benefits. The role also involves handling complex legal matters such as employment litigation, union negotiations, and labor arbitrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on all employment stages, including hiring, performance, and termination
• Oversee employment-related litigation, working directly with external counsel
• Ensure compliance with leave laws, disability accommodations, and safety regulations
• Conduct policy reviews, deliver legal training, and support labor relations, including union negotiations
• Support HR in managing investigations, grievances, and workforce impact of mergers or restructures
• Participate in collective bargaining, contract negotiation, and labor dispute resolution

Qualification

• Juris Doctor and minimum of 7 years in labor and employment law
• Experience within both union and non-union environments
• A blend of in-house and external law firm experience is ideal
