Job Description:
Our client are a globally renowned digital optics solutions manufacturer and distributor of medical ultrasound, consumer imaging and sports optics products.They are seeking an Associate General Manager of Tax to work out on a hybrid schedule (3 days on premise; 2 days remote) of their Melville, Long Island, N.Y. regional headquarters.The Associate General Manager of Tax is responsible for effectively managing the strategic and operational challenges facing the company's tax functions, analyzing tax opportunities and benefits, and providing tax-related domestic and cross-border planning as well as compliance Works closely with management to build sustainable tax strategies, improve processes, controls and risk management, and managing effective relationships with tax authorities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Responsible for effectively managing the accurate and timely preparation of domestic federal and state income tax returns, including proper application of foreign related rules impacting the US federal tax return
  • Responsible for reviewing corporate tax returns and year-end tax accruals
  • Drive continuous process improvements to streamline the global tax accounting process. Oversee controls and ensure processes, documentation and related systems are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Partner with outsource compliance partner ot improve standardization and automation in the US tax compliance process. Enhance documentation and drive collaboration between the tax accounting and tax reporting processes
  • Conducting research and planning according to current tax laws, and advising senior management on the tax impact of current and proposed company activities and transactions
  • Representing the company on tax audits conducted by outside regulatory agencies
  • Facilitating communication with appropriate government agencies and in-house counsel related to tax matters
  • Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfil essential functions and responsibilities
QualificationsANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIESSupport audits as required.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree in Accounting or Taxation strongly preferred
  • CPA Required
  • 10+ years Tax Accounting Management experience
  • Experience with tax accounting practices in IAS 12/ASC 740
  • Experience managing both insourced and outsourced compliance is ideal.
  • Proven ability of managing complex and sizable assignments
  • A commitment to continuously learning in a tax technology environment
  • Experience in managing US federal and multi state tax audits
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) Significant experience working with al types of entity taxes
  • Excellent analytical skills and judgment
  • Ability to travel, both domestic and international up to 20%
