Position Purpose:

Benchmark Education, the leading independent educational publisher, is looking to recruit an Associate Marketing Manager for our trade imprints'metadata. This is a new position is to improve the quality and accuracy of our trade titles' end-to-end metadata process. The person will ensure accurate and timely flow of title metadata to our distributor systems, Edelweiss catalogs, and retailers while ensuring the metadata framework coincides with company business policies and practices. This involves optimizing backlist metadata, managing frontlist seasonal metadata schedules for all contributing departments, optimizing editorial copy to consumer marketing copy, coordinating covers and interior art for carousel uploads, and ensuring that metadata and marketing copy are formatted appropriately and distributed on-time for each online distributor. This is an exciting opportunity to join the marketing group's growing team and play a key role in increasing visibility and discoverability of PD Essentials and Reycraft Book's growing trade lists. The role sits within the trade marketing team, reporting to the Director of Trade & Educator Marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Director of Trade & Educator Marketing as a key member of the marketing team, you will develop and improve metadata quality across all trade titles, oversee metadata merchandising checks of all online distributors, maintain Edelweiss seasonal catalogs, and advise on ongoing improvements to the metadata standard across our business.The candidate will work across departments, including marketing, editorial, design, operations, and sales. This role will oversee, monitor, and champion the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of bibliographic data for our children's trade imprint and our professional development imprint.

* Manage the bibliographic data and structures to ensure the metadata process runs smoothly

* Responsible for ensuring metadata integrity and enhancing best practices

* Supervise metadata feed to Reycraft Books and PD Essentials distributor systems and coordinate ONIX feed strategy updates

* Work with Benchmark's Data Management, Editorial, Marketing, and Sales departments and the distributors' teams to implement processes to modernize metadata management and streamline workflows

* Lead for organizing the marketing department's seasonal metadata dates and schedules

* Responsible for improving title searchability, optimizing metadata to enhance title online presentation, and overall metadata quality on retailer sites

* Populate metadata fields and comp title fields in Edelweiss catalogs

* Oversee metadata approval and upload confirmation for Benchmark and the distributor's systems

* Manage cover images and key title reveals to US retailers

* Assist the editorial and marketing teams with troubleshooting metadata queries

* Conducting weekly store checks with all online distributors to be sure our titles' metadata are correctly populated and correctly merchandised for optimal sales

* Working with sales and distributors to update bibliographic data and make all necessary corrections

* Issuing Amazon change tickets when needed, following through to check changes are in place and accurate

* Assuring correct covers, interior images, and beauty shots are loaded into the Amazon carousels and distributor feeds

* Develop KPIs to check completeness, timeliness, and quality of data, improving SEO and visibility across online retailers, i.e. Amazon, Ingram, Follett, Baker & Taylor, bookshop.org, et al

* Liaising with Distributor Systems, Editorial, Design, Sales, eComm, and other divisions on data held in/fed across customer and bibliographic databases, distributors, eComm etc.

* Continuously checking all frontlist description copy, leveraging market trends, adding new reviews and awards, and featuring key words

* Optimizing backlist metadata, revising outdated marketing copy, and adding monthly reviews

* Overseeing the internal categorization BISAC codes and keywords with Editorial

* Create ad-hoc reporting as needed

Requirements:

Knowledge, qualifications, and experience

* Bachelor's degree required

* Minimum four years Marketing/Sales and/or Editorial experience in Children's Publishing

* Metadata experience

* Copywriting and proofreading experience

* Experience with Amazon metadata and promotional merchandising programs

* Knowledge of BISAC Codes and Keywords

* Knowledge of databases and flow of data between systems

* Proficient working knowledge of ONIX, Edelweiss, Amazon Vendor Central, HTML, and Microsoft Office

* Biblio experience a plus and understanding of how data are used by key merchandisers both internally and externally throughout the publishing vendor and supply chain

* Organized, structured approach to working with large amounts of data

* Experience implementing improvements to procedures and systems

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

* The base salary range represents the low and high end of the expected salary range for the position. The base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors such as geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
