Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.About the Supervisor of Maintenance PositionA Maintenance Supervisor provides the day-to-day direction and oversight for preventative and corrective maintenance activities performed by Colonial technicians and contractors. Your chief objective is to achieve safety, system integrity and Operational Excellence by leading and managing employee performance and behavior toward the application of organizational programs, policies, and plans. A Maintenance Supervisor supports the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of industrial, electrical, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic systems and equipment for pipeline product transportation.What You Get to Do:
  • Build and foster a productive, team-oriented environment. Participate in hiring and onboarding of new team members. Communicate performance expectations.
  • Provide continuous performance and coaching feedback through recognition and input to management for corrective actions
  • Demonstrate leadership and influences across functions to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and organizational excellence. In addition to participate in hiring and onboarding of new team members.
  • Lead, promote, and ensure development of employees to create well-trained, effective and productive work teams.
  • Coordinate and assign work schedules, time off, approvals, and daily responsibilities of technicians.
  • Serve as the principal liaison between the technical team and local operations to ensure that the facility receives prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance function and ensure the maintenance function is given the opportunity to provide the service.
  • Perform technical design reviews of projects to ensure the projects meet operational, safety and system integrity requirements.
  • Determine budgetary needs for the facility, develop estimates and submit proposals to local leadership.
  • Ensure federal, state local and company regulatory compliance through internal audits by assigning responsibilities, as appropriate, to technicians and monitoring performance.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) from an accredited educational institution; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
  • Ideally, 5 years in the technician job family at a pipeline company or similar position in the oil & gas industry.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record to drive company and personal vehicles to perform required tasks.
  • Ability to utilize effective leadership skills in guiding individuals/departments (subordinates, peers, superiors) or groups toward task accomplishment.
  • Broad interpersonal skills with ability to adjust communication style and can influence up, down and across the organization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Operator Qualification and Colonial's processes.

Work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions in close proximity to refined petroleum products. Physical mobility to walk, sit, stand, reach, pull, push and bend. Digital dexterity for operation of calculator, PC keyboard and mouse. Hearing in the normal range. Lift up to 20 pounds. Speak at a normal voice range. Climb stairs, vertical ladders up to 10 ft. and tank steps as high as 60 ft. Color recognition for control panel indicator lights and to analyze product colors. Normal visual acuity for reading VDT screen, pressure charts and control panel counters. Physical strength to open and close manually operated valves and pressure vessel (trap, strainers, and filter) closures.
