Growing together.Primary Responsibilities:Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait timeComplete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documentsCollects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receiptsManages cashier box and daily deposits according to company policiesProcesses walk-in patients and visitorsAnswers phones and schedules appointmentsAnswer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as neededManages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etcEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the publicPerforms all other related duties as assignedYou'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED (or higher)1 + years of customer service experiencePreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Medical termsBeginner of computer proficiency (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans1+ years of experience working in medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical recordsSoft Skills:Strong communication and customer service skills both in person and via phoneAbility to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountabilityDemonstrated ability to work well with othersStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlinesAbility to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from othersAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
