Job Summary:Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, and other relationships:Provide project management support between BES/CLCPA program teams located in New York and Maine to handle critical substations and transmission line projects. Participate in developing and implementing project management process improvements across the company. May temporarily act as a Project Manager to cover PMs absences (PTO, Medical Leave, etc) and serve as assistant project manager for other large, complex projects.
Major Roles and Responsibilities (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
- Solves straightforward project management problems; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures.
- Assist other project managers & teams in project tracking & control (e.g. schedule, cost, resources) collecting individual project status information & developing project updates for management review.
- Plan and coordinate various aspects of the project life cycle. Prepare and maintain project management records and documentation as required. Obtain Regulatory and Municipal permits as required.
- Provide the necessary support in creating project charters, needs assessment, analysis, solution, initiation, plan, execution, control, close out.
- Coordinate and monitor contractors.
- Serve as an assistant Project Manager on moderately complex projects/programs and/or take a lead role on straightforward projects/programs. Applies team effectiveness skills; contributes to the achievement of team goals.
- Explains information and persuades others in straightforward situations.
- Collaborate with the project team to implement and control the project (e.g. cost management, forecast, project deliverables, material and equipment procurement, schedules, status report, sponsor updates and team communications).
- Provide support to the QA/QC and SHEQ units within the BES/CLCPA programs.
- Responds to standard and non-standard requests from customers; investigates with assistance from more senior project managers as needed. Works with guidance from the team to assess and identify solutions to standard and non-standard requests.
- Perform straightforward project management analyses to apply specific skills and knowledge to meet project requirements.
- Develop business cases for small projects/programs and related budgetary documents. Monitor and control costs within own work and project budget.
- Manage small project/process teams including coordination with internal and external stakeholders outside of own area using best practices.
Job Requirements:Skills/Abilities:
- Must have skills in the use of project management methodology, tools, such as, Microsoft Project, Primavera and be knowledgeable in the use of other project management tools and techniques.
- Must possess strong written and verbal skills with the ability to create and deliver effective project reports and presentations.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Team-work oriented, focused on meeting project goals in terms of investment and In-Service-Dates.
- Focus on problem-solving, self and others' development.
- Attention to details, QA/QC related tasks (desired).
- Experience using SAP software (desired).
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in management, Business, Engineering, 1 year' experience performing project management-related functions for projects in the Electric/Gas Utility sector.
- Certified associate in project management (CAPM) Certification Desired or must be obtained withing one year of entry into the position.
