With over 1,000 associates, we are big enough to perform, but small enough to care!Mesa is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Associate Project Manager to join our Transmission Line Engineering team. This role involves supporting project management activities for transmission line projects, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring successful project delivery.Key responsibilities: Project Coordination: Assist in planning, executing, and closing transmission line projects. Support the Project Manager in coordinating project activities, resources, and schedules. Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce Mesa's safety requirements, ensuring all team activities comply with safety standards. Documentation Management: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, schedules, reports, and technical specifications. Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between team members, clients, and other stakeholders. Ensure that project updates, issues, and changes are effectively communicated. Resource Allocation: Help manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within budget.Quality Assurance: Monitor project progress and performance to ensure adherence to technical standards, quality requirements, and safety regulations. Problem Solving: Identify potential project issues and assist in developing solutions to address them. Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager as needed. Budget Tracking: Assist in tracking project expenses and budgets. Help ensure that projects are completed within allocated financial resources. Business Development: Proactively communicate and promote Mesa's capabilities and strengths to new and existing customers. Interface with potential and existing clients, listen for and seek out new projects that may exist or are being formulated. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
  • Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to coordinate with and interface with clients, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and other electric utilities personnel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with clients, peers, and affiliates.
  • Working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and software used for specific technical applications such as PLS-CADD, PLS-CADD Pole/Tower within the department.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, scheduling software, and working knowledge of corporate accounting practices and business operations.
  • Willingness to develop, promote, and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
Education/Experience/Certifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is highly desirable.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) is highly desirable.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of transmission line design/engineering project experience with at least 1-2 years of experience managing engineering and design projects.
Work Environment/Conditions:
  • Normal office environment with occasional field trips to remote or rural areas requiring the physical ability to walk over rough terrain and requiring overnight stays.
