Job Description:

The PVC Research and Innovation team consists of scientists that are responsible for developing breakthrough technologies in support of CCM's current and future needs in the PVC roofing business. The research scientist will work closely with value chain partners, commercial leadership, and technical leadership to support current business and influence technology development to enable the next generation of sustainable PVC roofing membrane.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual to contribute innovative technology and product solutions to deliver growth for the PVC roofing product line and market. The successful candidate in this position will become an expert in flexible PVC roofing products and will lead major innovation and new product development projects within the Research and Innovation group. This position operates under the general guidance of the R&D Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Execute research activities on new and existing PVC products, contributing to the exploration and integration of new technologies within the PVC business group.

* Support multiple Innovation and New Product Development projects that align with the growth strategy for the PVC roofing business.

* Utilize advanced material characterization techniques to assess structure-property relationships in polymer materials.

* Coordinate and manage technical projects from ideation through to commercialization under the guidance of senior scientists or management.

* Assist in product development, processing improvements, raw material qualification, and cost-reduction projects for the PVC roofing sector.

* Work collaboratively with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and other departments to align project scope with business objectives.

* Publish technical reports, deliver presentations, and actively promote safety in all research activities.

Preferred Requirements:

* Master's degree with 5+ years of experience, or Ph.D. with +2 years of experience in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field.

* Familiarity with thermoplastic product development and processing technologies such as extrusion and calendaring is advantageous.

* Basic theoretical and practical understanding of thermoplastic polymer behavior.

* Proficiency in data analysis and establishing structure-property relationships through techniques like FTIR, DSC, TGA, and rheology.

* Experience in experimental design, especially within chemical formulation development.

* Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and communicate results clearly
