We are currently looking for a highly motivated and intelligent Administrative Law or LandLord Tenant Attorney who is well versed in 421a tax abatement filings, and regulation, affordable housing, and human rights is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have experience in practicing and litigating Administrative Law cases before DHCR, the NYS Division of Human Rights, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, and the Supreme Courts. They should be adept at defending against complex allegations of rent overcharge, succession, harassment, and discrimination. Additionally, they should be knowledgeable about deregulation due to substantial rehabilitation and capable of independently handling affordable housing matters with knowledge of voucher programs.

They should also have a desire to participate in marketing activities and be able to develop deep relationships with prospective and active clients.

Compensation for this position is based upon the candidates' breadth of experience. Qualified candidates should submit their resume, along with salary expectations as soon as possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Research and draft legal documents, including Art 78, agency answers and replies, due diligence reviews. and 421a tax abatement filings

· Perform Administrative due diligence and provide advice on compliance under Regulatory Agreements with HPD, DHCR, HFA, and HUD.

· Litigate Administrative Law cases before DHCR, the NYC Commission on Human Rights, NYS Division on Human Rights, OATH, and the Supreme Courts.

· Participate in marketing efforts, including drafting publications.

· Adhere to all of the Firm's policies and procedures.

· Other duties as assigned on an as needed basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· High degree of academic achievement with a law degree from an accredited U.S. law school.

· Active New York State Bar license and in good standing.

· Minimum of 3 years of real estate Administrative or Landlord Tenant experience.

· Must have deep knowledge of Rent Stabilization Law and Code and affordable housing law.

· Knowledge of handling Fair Housing, ICAP and NYC Human Rights Law is a plus.

· Knowledge about deregulation due to substantial rehabilitation and capable of independently handling affordable housing matters with knowledge of voucher programs.

· Strong negotiating skills, excellent analytical and research skills.

· Portable book of business a plus, but not required.

· Interest in working with a collaborative team and flexible to handle all assigned tasks.

· Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications.

· Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and takes enormous pride in their work.

· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and writing skills to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff.

· Ability to independently multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.

Compensation will be dependent on several factors including but not limited to years of experience involving these roles and responsibilities, portable book of business, years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
