Specific Responsibilities Would Include

Robert Graham is looking for a talented Associate Surface Designer with 5+ years' work experience in Surface design and with a strong understanding or prior experience in Fashion Design.

Description

The Associate Surface Designer will closely support both the Head of Surface Design and Director of Men's Wovens in their seasonal design development process, from concept to production. The role will be primarily focused on executing men's printed wovens (body & trim prints) for Mainline, Outlet & Specialty Store product.

Requirements:

  • Create complicated engineered layouts, color adjust artworks, troubleshoot any technical line quality issues, and ensure all artworks are executed properly as high resolution on the garment for digital printing.
  • Quickly create both conceptual mockups and high-resolution final artworks. Must have an eye for composition of print on the body, color/repeat balance and an aesthetic that aligns with our brand DNA.
  • Communicate with external design resources when sending artwork to be put into repeat and updating our budget/development charts accordingly.
  • Pull information from techpacks & style sketches and translate to high resolution engineered artworks and/or all-over repeats that are scale appropriate for the garment. Crosscheck artwork layout/color on proto, SMS, PP and TOP samples to ensure product is consistent with approved strike-offs and to catch any placement issues in the artwork layout.
  • Update daily and utilize our seasonal Design Excels for development status & tracking records. Set up millsheets & print pages to send to factories and final artwork folders. Update our trim print & program developments to Artwork Archive. Attention to detail between categories/seasons & internal development codes are critical.
  • Communicate directly with oversea suppliers/factories daily to provide necessary color and s/off comments while keeping track of approvals and keeping seasonal binders organized.
Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have
  • Expert level Photoshop skills are required and essential to success
  • Strong knowledge of working with engineered artworks, garment templates and marker layouts.
  • Ability to work on a multitude of different artwork styles including hand painted, digital, vector and AI generated artworks
  • Experience in creating AI generated art as a tool to create elements for projects is a plus.
  • Extremely strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills are essential.
  • Strong knowledge of all kinds of inks & surface techniques (digital, rotary/screen, heat transfer, plastisol, high density, foil, flocking etc) and how to properly execute and apply creatively in the designs is a plus.
  • Strong experience working with Microsoft Excel and OneDrive platforms to keep design walls and artwork files updated/organized by season and category.
  • Additional experience in Artwork Archive is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple deadlines & categories without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Pro-active, committed, and passionate about their field who has an optimistic attitude and works well as a team player. It is important to think outside the box and to help find creative solutions.
  • Need to have experience in a PC environment and working with Epson printers for colors standards.
  • Able to be creative and efficient in a Hybrid work environment using Teams, Acrobat, & OneDrive platforms to share information with team members.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Surface Design with a strong knowledge of Fashion Design is ideal
  • 5+ years' experience in a Surface Design related role

Salary Range: $58,800-73,500

Our job postings include an annual base salary range at the time of employment. The stated base salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on several factors, including the selected candidate's educational and professional experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. Base salary is a part of a total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, annual bonus and other Centric Brands sponsored benefit programs.
