Description:UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION has an immediate opening for an Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, Major Gifts (AVCDMG) - UISThe University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University.The Associate Vice Chancellor for Development, Major Gifts (AVCDMG) directs the collaboration, management and implementation of major gift fundraising for the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS). The AVCDMG sets standards and strategies for major gift fundraising and provides leadership and advice to deans, directors, and advancement professionals. Interacts regularly with other advancement leadership across the University of Illinois System and provides input that affects system-wide activities and policy. The role serves in strategic partnership with the Vice Chancellor for Advancement and other senior staff.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and provide stewardship activities for major gift prospects and donors in collaboration with the colleges and units of UIS and with UIF. Serves as prospect manager and solicitor for major donor prospects with giving potential of $25,000 or more. With a primary focus in the College of Business and Management, coordinates all activities associated with securing and stewarding major gift commitments for UIS.Lead, supervise, and manage performance of a team of major gift officers. Provide support and mentorship for the team, assisting all major gift officers in developing strategies to meet their professional goals. Lead Major Gift meetings to encourage collaboration and communication.Assist in directing capital and comprehensive campaigns of UIF and the UIS campus. Member of the University of Illinois Advancement Program Management Team. Participate in the UIS Advancement Council and various system-wide and UIF committees, governance committees, and task forces as requested to enhance the overall advancement effort.Travel to local and regional territories to develop working relationships with high-end prospective donors; some travel will be in conjunction with that of the UIS Vice Chancellor for Advancement/UIF Senior Vice President and/or the UIS Chancellor.Assist with and participate in donor/prospect activities including special events and campus visits. With assistance from UIF, prepare high-level funding proposals, donor correspondence and other written materials. Maintain current knowledge and practices of development in major gifts and planned giving areas.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree with at least five years of combined professional experience in alumni relations, development, fund-raising, general management, or marketing.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Computer usage, including word processing and use of data/information base systems.Ability to work within a fast-paced, team environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degreeDemonstrated professional experience in higher education or other nonprofit environmentExperience managing a high-performance teamProven willingness and ability to assume responsibility for high-level projects as assignedApplication Deadline: December 8, 2024Application Process: For full consideration for the role, all candidates must complete an online application and include a cover letter and resume.
