Associate Vice President, University Financial AidLocation: New Orleans, LASummaryThe Associate Vice President leads the overall financial aid process for both the undergraduate and graduate student populations (including thehealth sciences campus) through the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive financial aid services for students from federal, state, institutional, and private sources. This position oversees the consulting partnerships and the outside vendor providers of financial aid services.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to assimilate a vast amount of knowledge regarding state, federal, and institutional policies and guidelines.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively explain detailed and complex financial aid processes and deadlines.
- Superior interpersonal skills and thorough personal computer knowledge.
- Strong analytical skills and the capacity to perform detail work accurately and efficiently.
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to impart those skills to staff.
- Ability to handle a variety of duties and projects throughout the year, as the demands of a Financial Aid Office are cyclical.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, parents, faculty, academic deans, administrators, guidance counselors, alumni, government representatives, banks, loan servicing agencies, and loan guarantee agencies.
- Thorough understanding of federal Title IV aid regulations.
- Supervisory skills.
- Ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Strong knowledge of computer software and hardware, including the ability to install and maintain software.Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 8 years of experience in financial aid operations in a college or university.
- 4 years of supervisory experience.Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- 10 years of experience in financial aid operations in a college or university.
- 5 years of supervisory experience.
