Job Description:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or Planning or a directly related field supplemented by five years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design and construction of transportation projects including two years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral interview will be selected.

Preferences will be given to candidates possessing the following:

* Experience and knowledge of construction methods and techniques

* Management experience with represented staff

* Knowledge of CDOT Rules and Regulations

* Knowledge of applicable Municipal Code of Chicago (e.g., 10-20 and 10-21)

KNOWLEDGE

* Knowledge of Public Right of Way Rules and Regulations, applicable MCC sections, CBAs

SKILLS

* Managerial skills, analytic skills, communication skills, computer skills, writing skills

ABILITIES

* Ability to prioritize tasks, read and summarize complex documents, explain complex issues to senior management, think logically, and support decisions with facts

APPLICATION EVALUATION: Initial evaluation will be based on information provided on the application and the documents submitted. Department of Human Resource staff will review applications after the final posting date. Staff will follow any and all required Employment/Hiring Plan provisions, federal, state and local laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements when applicable.
