We are looking to fill the role of Assistant Water Plant Operator - Ashland Water. This is skilled work assisting Water Plant Operators in the monitoring and operation of the Ashland well fields, treatment plant and Lincoln Distribution system in accordance with established policies and procedures to produce, treat and deliver an adequate quantity and quality of water to Lincoln Water System customers. Duties include inspection, monitoring and operating a water treatment plant and collection and analysis of water samples for treatment process.
Desirable training and experience include college-level coursework in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related areas. Possession of a valid Nebraska Grade III Water Operators License from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health and some experience in water treatment plant operations.
This position is physically located in Ashland, NE.
Work Hours
FULL-TIME; 40 hours per week
This position requires shift work for a 24/7/365 operation through a shift bid process.
(First shift 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.; second shift 3 p.m. - 11 p.m.; third shift 11 p.m. - 7 a.m.)
During the 6-month probationary/training period, work hours will be Monday through Friday. 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent with some experience or training in mechanical maintenance or operating pumps and valves; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
Necessary Special Requirement
Must be able to obtain a Nebraska Grade IV Water Operators License from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health within 12 months of hire.
