Marcum LLP is currently looking for Assurance Staff to join our team in Merrimack, NH. You will be responsible for performing engagement field work under the engagement leader.
Responsibilities:
* Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, compliance errors and irregularities, fraud, or noncompliance with laws and regulations.
* Prepare detailed audit reports in accordance with relevant standards.
* Inspect eligibility, procurement and reporting records and compliance systems for efficiency and effectiveness,
* Communicate effectively with fellow staff and engagement supervisor/manager to ensure recording of transactions and compliance with laws and regulations.
* Examine and evaluate compliance systems.
* Perform research when necessary.
* Take complete ownership of specific aspects of the engagement and see them through to completion.
Qualifications:
* BA/BS/MS in Accounting. Recent grads welcome.
* 3 months-2 years of experience; experience with affordable housing agencies or property management companies is preferred
* Basic technology skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word required.
* Ability to interact with clients, all levels of staff and colleagues in a professional fashion.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
* Effective time management and analytical abilities.
* Ability to travel to client sites, within and/or outside of the Boston metro area, with a general focus on the North Shore and north of Boston. Some overnight travel may be required.
