Description SUMMARY:Rose Cay Maritime, LLC and its crewing subsidiary, Dove Cay, are seeking a top quartile candidate to fill the role of Captain for one of our ATBs. This ATB is currently trading in the US Gulf of Mexico but is not limited to this region. The chosen candidate will be the Commander of the assigned crewmembers for the tug and barge. The highly visible role will oversee overall safe operations, maintenance, crew accountability, and productivity while navigating predominately in the US Gulf and USEC.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as Company representative to clients, customers, vendors, etc. while onboard vessel
- Understand and comply with standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound vessel including but not limited to the company SMS and USCG standards.
- Serves as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW) and supervises all other OINCNW
- Approve voyage plans and executes voyages according to weather conditions and schedule
- Competently report all health, safety, environmental, and quality events
- Conduct all company mandatory as well as all regulatory required safety drills aboard the vessel with crew members
- Assist and/or lead incident investigations
- Reports SMS deficiencies to the DPA (DESIGNATED PERSON ASHORE) and Safety personnel
- Conduct inspections of your assigned ATB
- Manage safe seamanship and keep vessel (ATB) in good order
- Interact with shoreside management to work to constantly improve safety and efficiency not only for assigned vessel but fleet wide improvement
ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains accurate list of crewmembers and their assigned positions and responsibilities aboard the vessel
- Performs duties as outlined in SMS and Vessel Security Plan
- Customer facing and communication is common and needs to be detailed and professional, as per RCM and customer requirements
- Some customers may require extra communication outside our RCM SMS
- Manage mates and tankermen and their responsibilities concerning product loading, discharging and storage of cargo
- Manage crew and crew change to make sure it is as safe and efficient as possible to meet customer and transit needs
- Mentor and coach crew
- Recommend and work on career advancement for tug and barge personnel when appropriate
- Ensure crew don proper apparel, PPE, tools, equipment for daily activity
- Ensures barge is properly maintained, including maintenance oversite and appearance
- Responsible for setting and maintaining work schedules for the crew and ensuring that no crewmember exceeds work-rest hours
- Manage and maintain an electronic log through Helm (electronic log)
- Manage and maintain all forms, documentation, and other requirements per the company SMS in Helm (electronic log)
- Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned

Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Position ATB Master Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt Position Requirements CREDENTIALS/REQUIREMENTS:
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Holder
- Merchant Mariners Credentials that include Master of Towing
- Master 500 or 1600 Gross Tons Upon Oceans
- Valid STCW with all required endorsements (including, but not limited to Master, GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress & Safety System), and Advanced Firefighting)
- License to be endorsed as Master of towing Operations
- CPR/First Aid, Medical PIC (Person In Charge), and VSO (VESSEL SECURITY OFFICER)
- Valid Passport - must be able to travel internationally with no felonies, DUI, or other convictions which would restrict entry into Canada or other nations
- TOWING Experience ATB InterCon
- Knowledge and ability to implement Subchapter M training and Inspection regulations as outlined by the USCG
- Familiarity with all aspects of Cargo and Ballast operations and regulations
- Proven knowledge of Federal/State regulatory policy
- Prior experience with Inert Gas or Nitrogen systems - operations preferred
- Effective Safe Ship Handling and Heavy Weather Experience - Wire Tow Experience a Pass all medical screenings, including but not limited to physical, drug/alcohol test, and stay fit for duty as per USCG and Company requirements
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as Mate on Petroleum ATB or Conventional Tug/Barge
- 5 years' experience as PIC Multi-Grade and/or Chemical Cargo
- Strong knowledge of Helm CONNECT or other electronic log system
- Basic understanding of Microsoft products including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook
- PIC Endorsement at a minimum of Barge PIC (DL)
- Recency in USEC, specifically NYH, LI, Boston, and Delaware River, is preferred but not required
