Job Description Title: Athletic Coach Reports To: Director of Athletics Employee Type: Season: Part-Time; Dependent upon sport; Stipend at End of Season; No BenefitsSummary Collegium Charter School (CCS) is seeking qualified, seasonal Coach candidates. Successful candidates will have knowledge of the sport and will demonstrate effective coaching technique, leadership and mentoring skills; the ability to relate well within the school community; and the desire to provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and high standards. Qualified candidates will enhance the School's commitment to diversity and inclusivity and will be committed to the School's Vision and Mission. The Coach will be required to perform other duties requested by the Director of Athletics and/or school administrator. - Observe the rules of the PIAA, PIAA District 1, and the Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL)
- Provide leadership and general team management in the areas of daily practice, skills, and character development
- Remain current with theories and techniques in their sport
- Attend all coaches' meetings and collaborate with assistant coach(es) and student manager
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students, parent body, and the community
- Evaluate and assess players' skills and select team rosters
- Responsible for team equipment
- Keep the scorebook current and available
- Preferred - clean driving record and ability to drive 9 9-passenger van
- Report areas of concern immediately to Athletic Directors - fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.
- Initiate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parents
- Follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, meals
- Report and follow up with athletic trainer about injuries
- Write and submit individual comments on each student as scheduled
- Manage athletes at the appropriate level of the assigned sport
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and academic advisement
- Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct
- Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
- Conducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
- Abides by the CCS Employee Manual and all current PA Public School expectations
Qualifications - Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching soccer, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
- High school or collegiate playing experience
- Drivers license and ability to drive a 9 passenger vehicle
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching
- Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sport
- CPR and first aid certified
- Strong affinity for the mission of Collegium Charter School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values.
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Required Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34), Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114), all dated within one year of receipt
