Duties include recruiting, training, advertising, etc. Manages, directs, supervises, and coordinates athletic activities and related personnel for the Recreation Department. Provides daily supervision and guidance to assigned staff and volunteers which involves instructing, assigning and reviewing work, planning work, maintaining standards through the effective coordinating of activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, and providing recommendations on disciplinary action and discharge. Promotes the programs by obtaining sponsors, preparing news releases, preparing correspondence to parents, preparing mailers, etc. Performs various public relation duties to include dealing with the public to provide information, answering questions and address concerns.Handles inventory of all equipment utilized in various programs; cleans and repairs equipment; prepares quote information for equipment; ensures equipment is prepared to be used during programs; issues equipment for programs; transports equipment to appropriate event location. Accepts quotes and orders awards for end of season; issues awards to participants.Assists with the concession operations at events including ordering and stocking supplies, preparing concession area for operation, and cleaning up area after event. Supervises assigned staff and volunteers. This position requires night and weekend workReports to the Athletic Division Supervisor. Typical Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree in recreation or related field supplemented by three to five years of experience in recreation programming and related activities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidate with experience in Youth Football, Youth Soccer, Youth Basketball, Youth Baseball and/or Youth Softball, Youth Volleyball, and Adult Sports preferred. Equal Opportunity Employer
