To provide for the flexible and accessible distribution, maintenance and collection of equipment to athletes, physical education class students/instructors and intramural participants, as well as to serve as facilities service manager and athletic event supervisor and assist in liability risk management procedures. Facilitate supervising event scheduling and coordinates preparations for all athletic facilities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Prior experience in a community college setting dealing with the needs of the student-athlete and community sports organizations; previous work experience as a supervisor
Knowledge: Knowledge of various sports facility requirements, maintenance procedures, and athletic event set-up and equipment requirements;
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to comply with policies of the College and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Responsibilities
1. Assist in the purchasing of equipment, researching products and vendors, soliciting quotations and preparing requisitions.
2. Receive, inventory, label, distribute, collect, inspect, clean, maintain, repair, and store equipment for athletics, intramurals, sports camps, coaching clinics, physical education and community recreation programs.
3 Move equipment (sometimes in excess of 100 lbs.) by hand, assisted moving equipment or by utilizing multiple types of vehicles.
4. Prepare athletic facilities for use by scheduled participants, including converting a venue from one sport to another multiple times in the same day.
5. Operate power and non-power equipment and tools (drills, circular saws, screwdriver, tractors, groomers, turf management equipment etc.) and to assemble, maintain, and repair athletic equipment.
6. Secure and inventory all athletic equipment.
7. Review, monitor, and insure proper use of equipment in order to promote safety and reduce the risk of liability, and monitor liability risk management procedures for athletic facilities.
8. Use and safely store hazardous materials such as gasoline, oil, turf approved chemical, laundry soap, equipment and field cleaning agents.
9. Conduct chemical inventories of all the products that contain hazardous materials, maintaining appropriate SDS documentation and adhering to SDS regulations and requirements.
10. Train, supervise, hire, schedule staff and student workers for contest management, rentals, sports camps and assist in the evaluation of their performance and fulfillment of duties.
11. Educate, supervise as necessary, and train staff, student workers and volunteers on safety procedures and proper use of equipment.
12. Act as a host for visiting athletic teams, rental groups and officials.
13. Fully understand, operate and maintain electrical equipment, i.e. hoists, ball machines, timers, public address system, Thor Guard, computerized scoreboards, and clothes washing/drying machines.
14. Set up and take down equipment for practice sessions, rentals and home athletic contests, i.e. scorers' tables and supplies, team benches and chairs, bleachers and railings.
15. Prepare athletic arena prior to all community/rental events.
16. Serve as game manager for multiple athletic events.
17. Direct the operation of all laundry including laundry pick-up, cleaning, and dispersal on a daily basis of all athletic practice and game apparel, training room accessories and other necessary supplies within the department.
18. Dry/wet mop wooden arena floor before and during home athletic contests.
Clean and organize arena storage rooms.
19. Maintain computerized and written records of equipment checked in/out and inventory items on a weekly basis.
20. Maintain personal operational knowledge for equipment inventory, scoreboard operation, and message center graphics coordination.
21. Be responsible for all contest management.
22. Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by Triton College and the National Junior
College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
23. Valid driver's license is required.
