The Athletic Trainer provides care and related services to patients in the clinic. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's degree.Regulatory Requirements:
  • Medical Assistant Certification, preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
Experience:
  • One or more years of medical office experience, preferred.
  • Orthopedic and/or Sports Medicine office experience, highly desired.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in Orthopedic clinic procedures, ultrasound guided injections, casting, joint aspirations, fracture reductions, wound debridement, packing, and suture removal within scope of practice.
  • Appropriate fitting of durable medical equipment, including CAM boots, slings, and splints.
  • Conduct and gather patient history.
  • Patient education on home exercises.
  • Ensure pre-authorizations are done and patients are scheduled (this would include diagnostic imaging and hyaluronic acid injections)
  • Complete surgery pre-certs and help with other pre-certs.
  • Assist in community outreach (I plan on doing community outreach and education to build the practice)
  • Accurately obtain and record vital signs and pertinent observations of patient visits and document observations in the EMR system.
  • Prepare patients and be readily available to assist provider.
  • Collect and process specimens.
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas and facilitate patient flow.
  • Communicate with patient by telephone and confer with provider.
  • Educate patients who have special needs.
  • Maintain Laboratory records and patient results and monthly checks of medications for expiration dates.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication and telephone skills.
  • Attend staff, educational, safety, and training meetings.
  • Abide by policies and procedures of AMH.
  • Conduct all outgoing referrals.
  • Fill in at the front desk as needed - checking patient in and out.
  • Pull reports for patients off Hospital and clinic EMR system.
  • Manage stock inventory and maintain appropriate supplies for DJO.
  • Verify that orders are submitted for X-Ray orders to be performed before office visit.
  • Obtain ER or out-patient visit notes.
  • Assist patients with transfers to and from building, car, table, chair, imaging, etc...
  • Prepare instruments to be cleaned and sterilized.
  • Assist with training other office personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
