Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Athletic TrainerDate Posted: 9/24/2024Location: Collegium Charter SchoolDate Available: ImmediatelyJob Description Title: Athletic Trainer, Full-Time Reports To: Director of Athletics Employee Type: Full-Time, School Year Only, Hourly, Non-Exempt Summary Collegium Charter School (CCS) is seeking qualified candidates for the hourly position of Athletic Trainer. Successful candidates will be a Board Certified athletic trainer, have knowledge of the PIAA interscholastic sports, and will demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills; the ability to relate well within the school community; and the desire to provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and high standards. Qualified applicants will enhance the School's commitment to diversity and inclusivity and will be committed to the School's Vision and Mission. Approximate hours are afternoons 2-6. (Mon-Fri) and some weekend game coverage, scheduled a season in advance. The Athletic Trainer will be required to perform other duties requested by the Director of Athletics and/or school administrator.
- Observe all assigned athletics practices
- Implement injury and illness prevention and wellness promotion
- Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts such as ankles, fingers.
- Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment.
- Examination, assessment and diagnosis of athletic-related injuries
- Provide immediate and emergency care to student athletes
- Shared responsibilities include budgeting for and keeping inventory of training room equipment, medical documentation in student files.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students and parents
- Report areas of safety immediately to Athletic Directors - fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.
- Initiate appropriate and regular communication with student athletes and parents
- Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
- Evaluates athletes' readiness to play and communicate with coaches regularly; follow up with injured student athletes.
- Conducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
- Maintains highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
- Abides by the CCS Employee Manual and all current PA Public School expectations
Qualifications
- Education - Graduate of an accredited athletic training program.
- Experience/Skills, Sufficient experience as a staff Athletic Trainer with some supervisory skills, Experience in all contact sport
- Licensure/Certification/Registration, State licensure required, NATA required.
- Strong affinity for the mission of Collegium Charter School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
