Position DetailsPosition Information Position Athletic Trainer Full Time/Part Time Full Time Job Type Regular Position Summary New Mexico Highlands University, a Division II member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, has an opening for an Athletic Trainer beginning August 2024. This is a twelve month full time position. This job does require weekends, nights, travel, and observed school holidays. Candidates to be considered for this position must be NATA BOC certified prior to being hired as well as having a current BLS or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED certification. They must also have or be eligible to obtain New Mexico Athletic Trainer licensure within 30 days of employment. Possible sport assignments could include men's and women's basketball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, women's track, softball, or assistance with football. The application process will require a cover letter, resume, and a minimum of three professional references.Duties and Responsibilities Daily operations for the athletic training room and the following: Sport team responsibilities/assignments as specified by Director of Athletic Training communication with coaches and student athletes of assigned teams. Coordinating with physicians/medical personnel on care of student-athletes. Injury reporting, documentation, and maintenance of athlete's medical records Taking inventory and restocking medical supplies Ensuring safety of patients and staff through enforcement of safety procedures. Maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room as a medical facility. Additional administrative duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Continued education in sports medicine and maintaining good standing with NATA Board of Certification Other duties as specified by the Head Athletic Trainer.Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in athletic training or related field.Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and training Experience with administrative and organizational dutiesExperience with advanced manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine. Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in athletic training or related field.Special Conditions for Eligibility Certification and good standing with the National Athletic Trainer's Board of Certification prior to start date. Eligible for licensure or current license for the state of New Mexico prior to start date. Sensitivity to student-athlete issues. Current BLS or Professional Rescuer First CPR CertificationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven ability to meet multiple demands in a high-volume, fast-paced ATR environment. Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Excellent interpersonal communication skills required for working with a diverse group of patients, clinical staff, administrators, athletic staff, and visitors. Strong written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving patients. Computer literacy, including working knowledge of word processing programs. Ability to work with and in a diverse environment. Comfort working in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
