Durham Academy (DA) is accepting applications for a part-time Athletic Trainer to begin August 1, 2024 at our Middle School. The successful candidate will have the following:
- Current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and Board of Certification.
- Current (or in process of obtaining) state licensure in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners.
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care.
Primary Function: Provide athletic training coverage for middle school athletic programs. Primary Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.
- Certified (or in process of obtaining) Athletic Trainer.
- Valid state licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of North Carolina.
- One year experience working as an athletic trainer in a high school setting. Collegiate experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Abundant positive energy and enthusiasm for middle and high school athletics.
Specific Responsibilities Include:Practice within the parameters of the North Carolina Athletic Trainers Licensing Law as laid out by the North Carolina Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners and will follow both the Standards of Practice set forth by the Board of Certification and the Code of Ethics set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. Assist the Athletic Director as requested. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with staff athletic trainers and under the supervision of an overseeing physician within the six domains of practice including, but not limited to:
- Injury prevention
- Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis
- Immediate and Emergency Care
- Treatment and Rehabilitation
- Organization and Administration
- Professional Responsibility
Other Qualifications:
- Commitment and desire for professional growth as an athletic trainer.
- Strong interpersonal skills particularly with adolescents.
- Experience and willingness to collaborate with a large and diverse variety of people.
- Working knowledge of Google suite, Outlook, and EMR.
- Collaborate within the school to assist in areas as needed.
