HIGHLIGHTS
The SUNY Geneseo Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, part of the Division of Student and Campus Life, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Athletic Trainer. This full-time, 10-month, benefits-eligible position will function as a member of the Sports Medicine team in the implementation of all aspects of the Intercollegiate Athletic Training/Sports Medicine program in support of SUNY Geneseo's highly competitive 22 intercollegiate athletic teams and approximately 475 student-athletes.
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
* operations of athletic training/sports medicine program, including the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries
* working under physician supervision for physician referrals, physician event coverage, and pre-participation physical examinations
* supervising student workers
* providing athletic training/sports medicine coverage for team practices and competitions
* communicating with coaching and strength and conditioning staff to ensure the well-being of all student-athletes
* maintaining and updating student-athlete health records
* adhering to all NCAA, Empire 8, and SUNY Geneseo rules and regulations
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree by time of appointment
* Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
* Demonstrated commitment to professional development and evaluation/recommendation of new techniques and equipment to enhance athletic training services
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to establish and maintain positive learning environments for students and collaborative relationships with colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and relevant collegiate experience
* Familiarization with NCAA rules
License/Certification
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State.
