QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience as coach and/or trainer preferred.

2. Training certification is preferred but not required.

3. Must take training as required by the Athletic Director.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

SUPERVISES:

1. Athletic training facilities, equipment, and supplies.

2. Student athletic trainers.

PURPOSE:

To provide care and prevention of athletic injuries to allow for the least loss of participation time while keeping the overall physical and mental health of the athlete as the top priority.

EXTRA DUTY PAY:

Compensation will be based on experience beginning on Level 10 of the RE-1 Valley Extra Duty Pay Schedule as adopted by the Board of Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Present at all home boys and girls contests as determined by the Athletic Director. Accompany to away games as determined by Athletic Director if away site does not have a trainer.

2. Be available in the training room unless attending a contest.

3. Provide each team with training/first aid kits and keep them stocked and ready.

4. Responsible for supervision, care, and cleanliness of the training room, including inventory and organization of supplies.

5. Responsible for care, cleanliness, and management of water containers.

6. Report all injuries to the Athletic Director through clear communication using proper forms, and keeping injury records.

7. Refer athletes to physicians or contact physicians or other medical professionals when deemed necessary.

8. Follow the treatment and/or rehabilitation plans for athletes based on medical recommendations.

9. Assist coaches with injury care and prevention, conditioning, and use of injury-related or protective equipment.

10. Determine if a player can continue playing in a contest based on what is in the best interest of the student's health and safety.

11. Treat all minor injuries and conditions of athletes.

12. Maintain, train, and supervise student trainers, including scheduling of events.

13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
