Anticipated Opening for a Certified Athletic TrainerLocation: Croton-Harmon Union Free School District Salary Range: $55K-$70K Employment: 12 Months The Croton-Harmon School District is located in Northern Westchester on the shores of the Hudson River, 40 miles from New York City. We are seeking dynamic educators to join our teaching and learning community. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the District Physician and the District Athletic Director, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for the care, prevention and treatment of athletic injuries involving student athletes who participate in various school sports programs. Athletic training includes instructions to coaches, athletes, parents, medical personnel and communities in the area of care and prevention of athletic injuries. Duties include: Provide first aid, CPR, and coordinates emergency transportation, as necessary; Conducts initial evaluation following an injury and makes a decision regarding management of the injury;Establish and implement a program for the purpose of minimizing injuries which includes condition programs, judicious equipment selection, athletic activity safety checks and determination of physical fitness for participation in intended activities;Provide student athletes, parents, coaches and school staff with information regarding sound health habits and injury care and prevention practices;Maintain an inventory and determines the need for athletic training supplies, equipment and maintenance services;Establish and maintain detailed records on student athletes including sports physicals, incident report forms and prepares reports, as required;Inform coaches as to whether an injured athlete may resume participation in athletic activities;Assist in the administration, organization, and planning of schedules to provide coverage at athletic events;Follow specific guidelines for the care and prevention of athletic injuries including treatment and rehabilitation;Enforce policies and procedures of the Croton-Harmon School District;Work closely with the Director of Health Services, Athletic Director, and school nursing staff concerning restrictions of injured athletes;Understand and empathize with the needs and concerns of others;Perform other job-related duties as assigned. EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in a health-related field or athletic training is required.NATA certification is required.Master's Degree in athletic training is preferred.Two years' experience in a school setting is preferred.Current CPR/AED certification.Current ATC license or eligible for license in NY State.
