About this job:
The Athletic Trainer (AT) will perform services within the scope of practice as defined by Colorado Medical Practice Act, C.R.S. 12-36-106 and the Athletic Trainer Practice Act, C.R.S 12-29-101. 2. Duties include the prevention, evaluation, documentation, education, immediate care, referrals, coordination of care of athletic injuries and communicating with coaches, athletes and their parents. The priority of the AT will be coverage of practices and events as well as the support of all student-athletes, parents, coaches and school administrators under the direction of sports medicine medical director and school athletic director.

What You'll Do:
* Manages and provides care of injuries to Denver Public Schools high school athletes under the direction of a licensed physician, including emergency care; development of injury prevention programs; appropriate preventative care; and the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and recondition of the high school athlete whose conditions are within the scope of practice of a certified athletic trainer.
* Maintains appropriate general treatment orders, emergency protocols, and emergency action plans to be reviewed annually and approved by medical direction.
* Provides athletic training services for all home practices, games and away varsity football games.
* Acts as liaison between physicians and specialists, athletes, and their parents
* Maintains accurate records of injuries and treatments and facilitates referrals as appropriate per athletes' condition and insurance within the confines of HIPPA and FERPA
* Educates athletes, families, and coaches regarding injuries, risk factor modification, and exercise programs.
* Regularly communicates with head coaches and athletic director regarding status of injured athletes and recommendations for return to play.
* Orders supplies for sports medicine clinic within guidelines of athletic director and budget.
* Works to reduce athletic injuries through sports specific conditioning programs and develops and implements rehabilitation programs for athletes who have been injured.
* Comply with any and all policies regarding health care delivery as indicated by the Colorado Medical Practice Act, C.R.S. 12-36-106, the Athletic Trainer Practice Act, C.R.S. 12-29-101 and the district sports medicine program policies and procedures manual.

* Bachelor's/Master's Degree Athletic Training
* NATABOC Certification
* Colorado State Athletic Training License
* CPR Certification
* Required Knowledge with Google Workspace (docs, sheets, forms, gmail, etc.)
* Knowledge of online injury tracking software
