Job Summary:

Responsible for delivery of Athletic Training Care in accordance with NATA (National Athletic Trainer's Association) standards as well as Tennessee and/or Georgia Athletic Training Practice Acts. Standard responsibilities include: prevention, evaluation, treatment and referral of athletic related injuries. Work settings include one or more of the following: High School Outreach settings, Physician Clinics, On-site Industrial Settings, Outpatient Rehabilitation settings.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field. Graduate of NATA approved curriculum educational program

Experience:

Two years in clinical/collegiate/outreach setting. NATA Membership.

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration

Required:

BOC Certification. In addition, current license or temporary license to practice in the state of TN or GA. The athletic trainer will maintain NATA and CPR certification in accordance with those respective institutions and Erlanger Policy.

Department Position Summary:

The athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including first aide) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certification. The athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. The athletic trainer will carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/event physician. The athletic trainer will maintain NATA and CPR certification in accordance with those respective institutions and Erlanger Policy.

The athletic trainer will cover assigned pre-season physicals, sports games or matches, and related events under the supervision of the program manager. The athletic trainer must demonstrate knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the athlete's status and interpret the appropriate information.
