Job DescriptionWork Schedule: 40 hours per week. Hours will range between the hours of 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM; Monday - Friday. Hours may vary based on the needs of the department. Be part of something remarkableThe UW Health Sports Medicine program offers a 12-month Athletic Training Residency that is designed to prepare you to be a complete and versatile health care provider with an emphasis in orthopedics.The UW Health Sports Medicine Athletic Training Residency Program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).Two athletic training residents will be accepted for the 2024- 2025 UW Health Athletic Training Residency Program. You will be provided with rotation-specific competencies and objectives required to meet throughout the course of the residency experience.Clinical responsibilities include:
  • Primary Care Sports Medicine Rotation
  • Knee and Shoulder Surgical Rotation
  • Hip Preservation Rotation
  • Foot and Ankle Rotation
  • Pediatric Orthopedics Rotation
In addition to the clinical rotations, you will be an active participant in learning in the following areas:
  • Musculoskeletal Radiology
  • Outpatient Surgery Operating Room
  • Friday Morning Sports Medicine Conference
  • UW Health Athletic Training Education Forum

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited Athletic Training Education Program Required
  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or healthcare related field Preferred
Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer in any sports medicine or orthopedic setting Required
  • 2 years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer in any sports medicine or orthopedic setting Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Required
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer in State of WI. UW Health may allow a one-month grace period to obtain license in extenuating circumstances. No patient care will be performed within the grace period Required
  • CPR Certification Required
  • NPI Number Required
