OverviewThe Athletics Multimedia Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping the digital and visual identity of the athletics department. Working in collaboration with the Sports Information Director, this role will oversee the development and execution of multimedia content across various platforms including social media, video boards, and athletics websites. The Athletics Multimedia Coordinator also provides leadership and guidance to student workers, ensuring that all content aligns with the strategic goals of the department.This is a full-time, 10 month (August to May) position that will require frequent night and weekend events, as well as travel to 7-12 competitions annually.Responsibilities
- Social Media Management: Leads the strategy and execution of content for the athletics department's social media accounts, working closely with the Sports Information Director. Oversees the performance and growth of these platforms, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
- Graphic Design Oversight : Supervises the creation and coordination of graphic design elements that promote our athletics teams. Ensures consistency and quality across all visual content.
- Multimedia Content Production: Directs the capture and production of photo and video content for online and social media platforms. Ensures regular, high-quality video content that enhances the visibility of Macalester's athletics programs.
- Content Calendar Management: Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive social media content calendar. Ensures that content is timely, relevant and supports the overall communication strategy of the department.
- Game and Sports Coverage: Oversees the provision of comprehensive pre-, in-, and post- game social media coverage. Manages the collection of statistics for certain sports and ensures accurate and timely game recaps and press releases.
- Website Management: Assists in the development and maintenance of the athletics department's website. Ensures that all digital content is current, accurate, and engaging.
- Other Responsibilities: Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Participate as an active member of the team. Participate in department and college activities and support implementation of shared goals and initiatives. Provide backup support to other members of the team.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in multimedia content creation across various mediums (print, web, social, video). Comprehensive understanding of athletic sports programs.
- Proficiency in Adobe Create Cloud and Windows-based editing systems.
- Knowledge of photography equipment.
- Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheeting, and desktop publishing software.
- Competency in internet and website maintenance.
- Insight into media and journalistic practices and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree required. A major in media studies, communications, or marketing.
- Experience in live streaming and content creation.
- Strong demonstrated experience in Adobe Suite products like Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or similar tools.
