PGY-1 Pharmacy ResidencyAtlantic Health System PGY-1 pharmacy residency is a 12-month, hospital-based program with four positions available each year. It provides training in a flexible, diversified setting with rotations at both Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center. The program was established in 2009 and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.Our pharmacy residency provides an environment of learning with the specific goal of producing competent and compassionate pharmaceutical care practitioners. Residents will complete this objective through multi-disciplinary teamwork in a variety of different settings, as well as through independent study and project management. The program emphasizes development of clinical, communication, and leadership skills necessary to provide high-quality care and optimal patient outcomes.PGY-2 Specialty Pharmacy Residency ProgramsOur PGY-2 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and PGY-1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY-2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY-2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification.The PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency is a 12-month intensive specialty training program in critical care pharmacy at two academic medical centers: Overlook Medical Center and Morristown Medical Center. The program was established in 2020 and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.The PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency focuses on the provision of clinical pharmacy services to Morristown Medical Center. The program was established in 2019 and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.Atlantic Health System's PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy residency programs require the following criteria for eligibility: Received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program or have Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.Completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process prior to the start of the residency year (PGY-2 pharmacy residency programs only).Be eligible to participate in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists matching program.Be eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
