Job Description:
Prevention is the action of stopping something before happening or arising. CGRC's *ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs)* Prevention program stops drug misuse before it happens. In Montgomery County, CGRC's prevention work is a combination of evidence-based programming, caregiver education, school collaboration, and outreach. Through communication across platforms, we work to prevent drug and alcohol misuse before it happens. The ATOD Family Group Facilitator co-facilitates parent and / or child groups for prevention programs. The facilitator utilizes evidence-based programs that are designed to improve family relationships, reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse in children. The facilitator evaluates for improved social skills and school performance in children. The facilitator engages participation from both children and parents in designated programs.* Currently, all prevention programs in Montgomery County are offered via zoom.** **Some responsibilities include:** Facilitate parent and/or child groups for programs under the ATOD program, which includes (and not limited to) Strengthening Families and Guiding Good Choices, and Project Toward No Drug Abuse. * Work with families to improve parenting skills and family relationships, reduce problem behaviors, delinquency and alcohol and drug abuse in children.* Facilitate drug abuse prevention program designed for teenage students in a high school setting or in the community. * Co-facilitate family session to allow the parents and children to practice what they learned in their individual sessions in activities and exercises. This is also a time for the group leaders to coach and encourage family members for improvements in parent/child communication and interactions. * Deliver presentations in the community.* Demonstrate therapeutic relationship skills including an understanding of boundary issues and confidentiality. Develop therapeutic alliances with children, adolescents, and family members; work with clients to resolve the issues of their relationships. * Attend to issues of cultural, racial ethnic and gender diversity as they affect the course of treatment.* Clinically evaluate/assess clients for the need for change in level of care. * Complete annual education requirements.* Maintain current licensure or certification, if applicable; seek additional training as it pertains to career goals.* Participate in competency assessments, reviews, and validations.*Who is CGRC? *CGRC is a premier behavioral healthcare provider that embraces employees as partners in the organization's strategic plan. *What can CGRC do for you?
