Position: Attendance ClerkCampus: Dickinson High SchoolWage/Hour Status: Non-exemptImmediate Supervisor(s): Campus Principal Pay Grade: Per Compensation ManualDays Employed: POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Maintain accurate student records at the campus level
  • Perform data entry and verification for student demographics, attendance, and PEIMS data
  • Run student database maintenance routines and backups
  • Support campus staff in the use of the student information system
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases and word processing (Microsoft Office Products)
  • Proficient typing, keyboarding, and file maintenance skills
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of district student information system
Experience:
  • Know school operations
  • Must be familiar with PEIMS reporting rules and requirements
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:These statements are intended to describe the major purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
  • Collect PEIMS data from all campus sources daily. Analyze data for reasonableness, recognize deficiencies, and correct errors in original data before processing or when appropriate return to the originator for correction
  • Work directly/closely with district PEIMS personnel to produce complete and accurate PEIMS attendance submissions at the appropriate time throughout the school year
  • Produce attendance reports for district and campus administrators as needed/requested
  • Support campus staff on the use of student services software
  • Maintain student information on district student services software (demographic, special population, health information)
  • Support teachers in taking attendance
  • Maintain a good rapport with campus/district staff to project a cooperative and positive relationship
  • Attend any/all meetings as they pertain to student attendance and/or PEIMS
  • Maintain a working knowledge of PEIMS requirements and rules, knowing that changes continually occur
  • Check file server backups
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/administrator
  • Great parents/visitors in the front office providing assistance and direction as needed/requested
  • Assist with managing students who report late to school and/or to classes during the day
  • Maintain student attendance records and report high-frequency absences to the grade level Assistant Principal for follow-up
  • Make parent phone calls for students who are absent for three or more consecutive days
  • Make phone calls for students who are absent five or more days per nine weeks
  • Work collaboratively with the grade-level Assistant Principal to address student attendance issues
  • Assist in other clerical positions when needed and/or directed
